“Fantastic views and great food”

"Carmichael's is without question a stunning location for a restaurant. It overlooks Jolly Harbour and the views are breathtaking. It is worth booking as they stagger diners to ensure food is properly prepared and presented. The building is wood built and all tables are under cover. There is a small drinks bar to the left where they serve freshly made cocktails.

There is an extensive a la carte menu which looked very good. We had been told about the daily special menu. This changes each day and is 60 US each or 86 US in total if a couple. They add 10% sales tax and 12.5% non resident tax which makes it a bit more expensive than it first looks. However, this is still good value as we had four dining and we all had the special. The cocktails we had were freshly made and tasted great. We were very well attended to and the food was very tasty and well presented. We had a braised pork belly which was a little dry but otherwise good. The molten chocolate lava cake with tiramisu ice cream was gorgeous and complimented the other dishes to make a well balanced menu.

To get to the restaurant you can ring reception at Sugar Ridge and they will collect you from your hotel (local) and drive you up. It is in either a golf cart or a Landrover Both make for a lively journey and add to the experience.

Carmichael's aims to be a high end prestigious restaurant and almost achieves five stars. However, the dry pork let them down a little. Worth a visit if you are in the area."
