Carnival Fitness Xplosion 1 was a blast held at the YMCA Volleyball gym on May 21, 2010.
Certified Trainers Kevinia Francis and Robert Fox (who trained with the Dallas Cowboys), gave the participants a most intense and invigorating routine. Participants, including the Wings Youth Basketball members, were also given tips on exercising habits and how to maintain a healthy lifestyle. The exercising tips for a healthier and better body was exciting, invigorating and fulfilling.
Kevinia is a graduate of Christ the King High School. She is now a Certified Trainer and has completed her B.S. in Health Science and her M.S. in Physical Therapy from Florida Inter-
national University. Kevinia has also attained certification in the following areas: National Council of Strength and Fitness, Kettle Bell Certified, Cross Fit Certified, Martial Arts Black-
belt, Kickboxing Instructor, Fitness Instructor for older adults.
Kevinia has been involved in sports since primary school days, participating actively in track & field, basketball, soccer, netball and karate.
Some of Kevinia’s most exciting times as a teenager were her involvement in Martial Arts under her brother, Sensei Don’s tutelage, and playing basketball for the Christ the King High School and the Wings Basketball tours to Louisiana, and the World Youth Basketball Tournaments in Milwaukee in the 1990’s.
In Miami, where Kevinia currently resides, her clients range from children to older adults—age ranging from 5 years to 90 years.
Kevinia also does Boot Camp training, total body conditioning with the focus on core stability and dynamic flexibility, resulting in not only looking good but feeling exceptionally great at the end of one’s daily exercise routine.
Some of the exercises in Carnival Xplosion 1 included a lot of calisthenics (body weight training), also speed and agility coordination drills, which was one of the main focus of the training.
The participants were also involved in endurance training, total body work-out,and strength training. At the end of the session participants were fully energized and are looking forward to
Carnival Fitness Xplosion 2.
Coming soon, especially for those who can’t make it to the gym—Kevinia’s GET FIT FOR CARNIVAL DVD, bursting on the healthy scene in June. This DVD promises plenty of tips, tricks, motivation and inspiration to get you in shape for Carnival and beyond.
Kevinia and her sisters and brothers successes are mainly linked to the support of her mother and father and siblings.
Pauline Francis, better known to many as Mommy Gen has been a pillar of strength in her children’s endeavours. For her, education is the key, and she wasted no time in getting the best education for her children, either at a secondary or tertiary level. She has most times been at her children’s activities and encouraging them to be the best they can be. LET’S SUPPORT
OUR CHILDREN– IT WOULD MAKE THE DIFFERENCE!!
9TH CPTSA ANNUAL FEMALE FOOTBALL
The Concerned Parents/Teachers Sports Association will be hosting the 9th Annual Female Football Tournament, July 4 –11, 2010, at the YASCO Sports Complex.
Invitations have been sent to secondary schools around the island, local female clubs, including 5P’s, Ottos Tigress, Villa Lions and Wings. Overseas countries invited are Dominica, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, St. Kitts, Montserrat, Anguilla, Tortola, Jamaica, Guyana and St. Lucia.
The CPTSA is now awaiting confirmation from interested teams, as the deadline for registration, June 15, draws near. This year, the tournament will mainly involve clubs with play-ers under the age of 21 years. However, a team can only sign up no more than three (3) over-aged players.
After a dismal display by the Antigua/Barbuda National Female Football Team, during the Women World Cup Qualifiers, in Trinidad, recently, it is hoped that the interest is hyped for
more female football competition.
It is only with plenty of proper training and competition that Antigua/Barbuda Female Football will show any improvement.
