3RD KREYOL CARIBBEAN AMATEUR BOXING TOURNAMENT Tuesday 12th July 2011
A team from Antigua took part in the 3rd annual boxing tournament organized in Martinique from July 6th till july10th, 2011.
The team comprised of 14 members, 5 boxers out of the National boxing gym, along with the head coach Maurice Hope, 5 boxers out of the Uprising boxing gym, along with assistant coach John Ryan and head coach Anthony Severin and 1 Referee/Judge Stephen Butters.
The team brought back 3 gold, 6 silver and 1 bronze medal and placed 4th in the Tournament. Six countries took part in this event including Antigua, the only none speaking Kreyol island. Guyana 1st, St.Lucia 2nd, Guadeloupe 3rd, Antigua 4th, Martinique 5th and Dominica 6th.
The boxers meddled as follows:
Alston Ryan flyweight out of Uprising Gym won gold.
Sony Benjamine welterweight out of the National Gym won gold.
Jaheel Cannonier light heavyweight out of Uprising Gym won gold.
Patrome Collins bantamweight out of the Nation Gym won bronze.
Wynton Phillips feathweight out of the Uprising Gym won silver.
Yasimba Aska welterweight out of the National Gym won silver.
Karl Warner middeweight out of the Uprising Gym won silver.
Linden Arthur lightweight out of the National Gym won silver.
Tuvia Lewis light heavyweight 80kg out of the Uprising Gym won silver.
yakita Aska light heavyweight 81kg out of the National Gym won silver.
