SIXTH ANNUAL HOMES, FAMILIES AND GARDENS FESTIVAL COMPETITION (HFGF) TO BE LAUNCHED Monday 29th April 2013
The Community Development Division (CDD) in the Ministry of Social Transformation is anticipating full participation in the Sixth Annual Homes, Families and Gardens Festival Competition (HFGF) to be launched on May 3.
Under the theme “Think Beautification for the Nation’s Health and Wealth”, the CDD’s focus for the 2013 Festival is ‘The Year of the Garden.’
The launch will be held at the Carlisle Bay Resort in Old Road Village, this year’s sponsor, during the General Insurance sponsored Gardens of Antigua Open Garden.
Coinciding with the launch will be the Old Road Open Gardens from May 3 – 5 during which residents in the village will showcase their gardens to the public.
Students from Urlings and Old Road Primary Schools are invited to participate by creating signs to direct the public to the garden owners who are opening their gardens. The signs should also reflect the students’ concept of what the Open Gardens represent. The students who produce the most creative signs will be invited to the VIP ceremony at Carlisle Bay Hotel and will receive medals and monetary prizes.
The deadline for the submission of the signs is April 29.
Organisers of the event think children should start learning at a young age the importance of keeping their communities clean and beautiful hence the involvement of the neighbourhood schools. Click here for all News and Specials for Causes@antiguanice.com
