ELDERLY APPRECIATION FOR FAMILY WEEK Tuesday 17th May 2011
The 2011 National Family Week commences from 8th -20th May 2011. The Theme for this year’s celebration is “Maintaining Strong Family Relations in a Changing world.”
The Community Development Division has been given the task to assist with the co-ordination of the Senior Citizens Appreciation Day, 20th May 2011.
In this regard, the CDD is appealing to the NGOs/CBOs to organize activities to recognize the senior citizens within the communities and send the information about the type of activity and the time to the CDD, at as soon as possible.
Information can be brought to the Community Development Division located at the corner of Popeshead and Dickenson Bay Street, faxed to 562-5369, or via email at communitydevelopmentdivision@gmail.comn .
The information will be forwarded to the National Family Week Committee so that it can be publicized in the media before and on the day of the event.
Residents, as well, are asked to do something special to honour the senior citizens in the neighborhood. This could be in the form of providing a meal for them, grooming their hair, transport them to the public Health Clinic, or a just visit to sit and talk. The main objective is to let them know how much you appreciate them and the contributions they have made to the community.
Finally, strong family relationships is the foundation on which the strength of Antigua and Barbuda was built. As a Social Partner, the CDD fully endorses this project and wish to encourage families to participate in all the activities for the 2011 National Family Week, as we strive together to maintain strong family relations in a world that is forever changing Click here for all News and Specials for Causes@antiguanice.com
