PINEAPPLE BEACH CLUB

It was an evening of entertainment and flair at the Grand Pineapple Beach Resort when team members participated in this year’s edition of ENCORE (Entertainment Now Creates Opportunities Rewarding Excellence) on June 19. The competetitors did battle in modeling, singing and dancing for the enthusiastic crowd at the Pineapple Grill Restaurant and Bar. With this year’s theme being “GPA Stars shine bright,” the contestants did not disappoint and the talent was in abundance.

Top honours in the male singing category went to Devon Hosier from the Recreation Department while Akeila Benjamin from the Food and Beverage Division was named Best Female Vocalist. In the modeling competition, Housekeeping’s Josh Matthias won the male contest and his colleague Maria Cummins won the female title. Kerry Vital from the Recreation Department was crowned the Best Dancer. Hotel Manager O’Brian Heron applauded team members for bringing their best to the table and said, “These team members excel as tourism ambassadors and the fact that their talent extends outside of work is particularly impressive so we enjoy giving them the opportunity to shine.” Prizes included a thirty minute massage, zipline and catamaran tours courtesy of Island Routes, and an evening pass for two at Sandals Grande Antigua Resort and Spa. Yvette Butler, Sly Jay and Stephanie Andrews were on hand to judge the festivities.

The winners will now compete with their sister property’s Sandals Grande Antigua’s ENCORE victors next month. The champions from that contest will go on to compete in the Grand Finals in St. Lucia in August.
