SUGAR RIDGE CLEANS JOHNSON'S POINT BEACH
Wednesday 4th June 2014

Sugar Ridge Hotel keeps its promise to continue cleaning the beach at Johnson's Point (Pelican Isles)

On Saturday,  May 31, in celebration of World Environment  Day, Sugar Ridge Hotel staff with friends and family along with students from the Antigua Barbuda and Hospitality Institute spent the morning cleaning the beach.

The area -- near Cades Reef and South Coast Horizons -- is one of our many important coastal areas. The beach and mangrove swamp in addition to providing a spawning ground for fish and safety for nesting turtles, also provides a nesting area for birds and a refuge for other aquatic species. While it isn't one of the island’s more popular beaches, it's a great location for that early morning swim that we love so much here on Antigua.

The team’s efforts resulted in the collection of some five large bags of garbage, half the amount that was collected at the same time last year.
