A TASTE OF ANTIGUA WITH WADADLI KITCHEN
Thursday 11th November 2021

November 2021: The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority kicked off a week of Independence Day Celebrations in London with a culinary event at Andi Oliver’s Hackney Wick restaurant, Wadadli Kitchen.

Welcoming influential British journalists alongside important ministers, dignitaries, the High Commissioner of Antigua and Barbuda and Hon. E.P. Chet Greene, Andi served up an immersive dining experience on Sunday evening that combined the iconic flavours of Antigua with poetry, music from Khan Cordice, and a sneak peek into her BBC series, which will be launching later this year.

Colin James, CEO of the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority said “The culinary event with Andi Oliver at Wadadli Kitchen was a wonderful start to a busy week of networking events, broadcast interviews and meetings. This experiential evening of quintessentially Caribbean flavours and sounds truly brought the taste of Antigua to London – a superb way to celebrate the twin-island nation’s anniversary of independence.”

The Antiguan restaurant, based in East London, recently opened its doors with great success. Split into two sections, the first is the Wadadli kitchen is a 50-cover restaurant that offers communal dining with table service. The second section is the Wadadli Roadside – a more casual takeaway service that heralds the amazing roadside eateries across the Caribbean. Diners can expect iconic dishes such as seafood boils and vegan Ital.

The evening event on Sunday 7th November offered a mouth-watering taste of Antigua with a seven-course menu which included salt fish fritters, pepperpot and dumplings, and sweet potato pudding – all washed down with Cavalier rum punch.

Kicking off with the Wadadli Kitchen event, the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority is gearing up for an important series of events this week in London.

This networking event which will welcome approximately fifty top tier journalists to the Royal Overseas League in St. James’s to meet with key hotel partners, learn about the music and culture of the twin-island nation, and a chance to tune in to a Q&A with cricketing legends Sir Curtly Ambrose, Sir Richie Richardson and Sir Andy Roberts.
