April 17, 2018 (ST. JOHN’S, ANTIGUA) – The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority is pleased to announce five nominations for the destination in the 25th annual World Travel Awards 2018.
The World Travel Awards is the travel industry's most prestigious awards programme, rewarding leaders in the tourism, airline, hotel and hospitality sectors around the world, with winners voted for by tourism professionals and consumers around the world.
Voted the Caribbean’s Most Romantic Destination in 2015, 2016 and 2017, Antigua and Barbuda has once again been nominated as the Caribbean’s Most Romantic Destination.
The beautiful twin-island destination known for its multitude of sparkling white sandy beaches, turquoise waters, scenic locales, luxurious resorts, world-class cuisine, sailing activities, historic attractions, and friendly people, has also received nominations for Caribbean's Leading Beach Destination, Caribbean's Leading Destination, Caribbean's Leading Honeymoon Destination and Caribbean's Leading Tourist Board- Antigua & Barbuda Tourism Authority.
The nominations attest to the dedication and continued hard work of the Ministry of Tourism, Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority and tourism stakeholders.
2017, has been an exciting year for Antigua and Barbuda with the destination growing in popularity as a romantic holiday destination for celebrities; the launch of a dedicated Romance page on the social media platform, Facebook; celebration of major anniversaries for flagship sailing events, the outstanding execution of the destination’s award-winning beach bar trail campaign, and the formation of the Green Corridor zone in Antigua during the United Nation’s International Year of Sustainable Tourism for development. Antigua and Barbuda has also received recognition from other travel and marketing partners with successful award wins, to include Caribbean’s Most Innovative destination.
