BARBUDA FEATURE GENERATES INTEREST DURING ROYAL WEEK
Thursday 28th April 2011
(April 24, 2011, New York, NY) Just in time for 'Royal Week' the webisode, 'Barbuda and Beyond' the second in a trilogy of Travelista features has been released (www.travelista.tv) and will be hosted on BET.com.
The webisode begins with a sail to Barbuda via Catamaran to discover the deserted pink sand beaches. As Travelista Teri walks along the pristine shoreline, she describes Barbuda as one of Princess Diana's favorite destinations and gives a close up view of the texture of pink sand that is unique to the beaches in Barbuda.
"The timing of this release works to our advantage as rumors continue to suggest that Barbuda will likely be a stop on the return itinerary of Prince William and Kate Middleton's honeymoon. Our office continues to get inquiries and requests from the media for footage and photos of the beaches in Barbuda and this webisode allows us to capitalize on this curiosity and interest," said US Tourism Director, Derede Samuel-Whitlock.
Building on this media attention, the US Tourism Office will also host a media reception on the Eve of the Royal Wedding to officially announce the naming of the Princess Diana Beach to honor the legacy of humanitarianism that is associated with Barbuda's most celebrated guest.
Princess Diana visited Barbuda on at least four occasions and was accompanied by her sons Prince William and Harry on two of these trips. The Princess' repeat visits to the island of Barbuda are being leveraged as a "stamp of approval" for the outstanding level of hospitality and service that is delivered by the Barbudan people.
Marketing themes and messages will position Barbuda as offering "The Royal Treatment" as a way to position the destination as an exclusive high ticket brand.
Princess Diana Beach will be a tribute to the "People's Princess" who inspired many lives with her message of hope and courage. This landmark is expected to become one of Barbuda's main attractions and will be included in many sightseeing routes and tours.
