ANTIGUA & BARBUDA AT 2013 GOLF INTERNATIONAL PAIRS WORLD FINALS
Friday 4th October 2013

The Caribbean's representatives to the 2013 International Pairs World Finals have departed the Caribbean to prepare for the event.

The Antigua and Barbuda pair of Tedson Weatherill and Zorol Barthley will acclimatise by participating in the Cornish Piskey hosted by the RAF Golf Association at Newquay, Cornwall, before arriving at the host venue at Machrihanish Dunes, Argylle, Scotland for the finals slated for October 7-10.

The Trinidad and Tobago pair of Neville Mohammed and Fabien Lee Foon have opted to arrive at the Finals venue a number of days early, to finalise their preparation.
Weatherill and Barthley emerged winners of the Digicel International Pairs Antigua qualifier on September 14, whilst Mohammed and Lee Foon won the Sandals International Pairs Caribbean Open, played in Trinidad on August 24 & 25. The recent tropical storms that caused damage in Mexico derailed plans for a qualifying event there to select two Mexican teams. Approximately 30 countries will be represented at the World Finals.

International Pairs, established to celebrate the turn of the millennium, is the largest amateur golf tournament of its type in the world, and culminates annually with a world finals in Scotland, the home of golf. Its founder, Ross Honey, has been impressed by the Caribbean's representation, "we started welcoming Caribbean teams in 2009 and it reached the pinnacle last year when Sir Vivian Richards came over representing Antigua and Barbuda; what a statement that was on behalf of International Pairs! The representatives have been amazing Ambassadors."

Golf Experience Caribbean, based in Antigua, owns the International Pairs franchise rights for the Caribbean and Central America and facilitates winners of its qualifying events getting the opportunity to represent their country on the world stage.

The progress of the Caribbean teams may be followed via the company's website www.golfexperiencecaribbean.com or via their Facebook page www.facebook.com/internationalpairscaribbean
