3RD ASW WOMEN’S RACE DAY Tuesday 26th March 2024
Antigua Sailing Week is thrilled to announce that the 3rd ASW Women’s Race Day will be sponsored by the Antigua Yacht Club Marina and Resort, aiming to celebrate and encourage more women to participate in Sailing.
The sponsorship will also include expanding the Race Village to incorporate the new AYCM Marinaside Platform, featuring nightly entertainment throughout the event. In preparation for Women’s Race Day, Antigua Sailing Week is teaming up with Second Star Sailing Caribbean and the National Sailing Academy to welcome the Farr 65 Falken and 59° North to Antigua.
This collaboration aims to promote female involvement in sailing, with Falken, owned by 59° North, embarking on a journey from Norway through the Caribbean and back to Europe. Crew member Nathalie Zenny from Jamaica, joining the boat in Antigua, is dedicated to encouraging more Caribbean women to engage in sailing, aligning with 59° North's mission to increase female participation in the industry.
To foster this initiative, a casual tour of the Falken was held on Saturday, March 23rd, at 2 pm, inviting girls and women to explore the boat docked at ASW Women’s Race Day sponsor Antigua Yacht Club Marina. Alongside the boat tour, representatives from the organizations involved provided insights into the industry and opportunities for women to get involved in sailing, including training and scholarship options.
