MOMENTS IN NATURE HIKING SERIES CONTINUE AT CHRISTIAN VALLEY
Wednesday 24th February 2010

The Environmental Awareness Group (EAG), in conjunction with the MOMENT is CAPTURED photography continues in second leg of a monthly hiking tour around Antigua to combine two closely-related endeavours: nature and photography. The purpose of the hikes is to bring attention to Antigua's diverse ecology, to encourage physical activity among residents, to highlight the work of the EAG, and to give amateur and professional photographers the opportunity to explore their cameras in a natural environment.  Individuals should bring their own cameras, preferably DSLR (manually adjustable), however, cameras are not absolutely essential since the event is primarily a nature hike.

This Saturday’s hike begins at 7:30 a.m. in Christian Valley, at the main gate just outside the Christian Valley Agricultural Station (from town, turn left at the Christian Valley sign just south of Jennings, and drive until the road ends).  Antigua is home to one major waterfall and its location is unknown to many citizens. This is a fun hike suitable for people of all ages, so hikers should bring with them good running or hiking shoes, lots of water, sunscreen and a hat.

Locations for all subsequent hikes, planned for the last Sunday of every month (with the exception of Jul, Oct, & Dec), will be announced closer to the dates:  Mar 28, Apr 25, May 30, Jun 27, Aug 29, Sep 26, and Nov 28. Each hike commences at 7:30 a.m. and lasts approximately three hours. Information on these monthly excursions is available on the websites eagantigua.org, 365antigua.com and theMOMENTisCAPTURED.com.

The cost of each hike is EC$ 20. All proceeds go to the Environmental Awareness Group and previous hiking experience is not necessary.

Robby Breadner, hike leader, is a Canadian-born, Antigua-based photographer and designer with over 20 years’ experience in photography, web and graphic design, areas in which his photography is regularly incorporated.  His works have appeared in local and international print and web media, educational textbooks and literary works.
