PAAWS APPEALS FOR FUNDS Tuesday 28th May 2019
Calling all animal lovers! PAAWS dog and cat shelter has issued an urgent appeal for donations following an influx of new arrivals.
The donation-dependent charity – which operates Antigua’s largest animal shelter is currently home to dozens of rescued dogs and cats.
“Funds have sadly reached critical level again,” a spokeswoman said. “We took in 19 dogs in a single week, many of them puppies in need of medical care, which has greatly impacted our cash flow.
“Our biggest costs are food, medication, vet bills and staff wages. With no government funding, PAAWS is reliant on help from kind-hearted members of the public.
“We urge anyone who can assist to please do so. We would also be extremely grateful for any donations of prizes for our regular bingo fundraisers.”
Donations can be made via PayPal at www.paaws-antigua.com.

About PAAWS
PAAWS has provided a safe haven for neglected, abused, injured and abandoned dogs and cats since 1996 and has successfully rehomed more than 2,000 animals over the years.
Native ‘Dadli Dogs’ make excellent pets because they’re naturally affectionate, loyal and smart. And they’re famous for smiling!
All pets that are old enough are spayed/neutered, micro-chipped and vaccinated before being rehomed.
How you can help:
PAAWS exists solely on donations so we’re always grateful for cash donations, along with dog and cat food and medication, to help us meet our high running costs.
Our Parham shelter (opposite the primary school) is home to scores of dogs and cats who love visitors and give everyone a hearty welcome.
Our Dadli Dogs love to be taken for walks and given the opportunity to show off – and improve – their social skills and leash training. This greatly increases their chances of finding a forever home. Just remember to bring sunscreen and water.
Our puppies and kittens adore cuddles which helps them become socialised. We often have tiny orphans in need of feeding and a little extra TLC. If you can foster one at home, we will provide a crate and food.
Become a PAAWS member. Membership fees are just EC$100 per year but are a vital source of funds for us. Being a PAAWS member also means discount on our pet boarding services.
Happy Hotel Boarding Services
The shelter also provides boarding for dogs and cats for long and short-term stays. We offer competitive prices in a clean, safe environment, daily exercise and lots of love.
PAAWS is open to visitors and volunteers Monday to Saturday from 10am-4pm.
Fully licensed by the Dog Registration and Control Authority. Registered as a friendly society in March 1996.
