IWC BRING CHRISTMAS JOY TO THE NEEDYFriday 13th December 2013
Members of the International Women’s Club of Antigua and Barbuda (IWC) donned their antlers, Santa hats and special Christmas outfits Thursday, and brought special cheer and joy to some of Antigua and Barbuda’s neediest citizens.
The annual programme, made possible by generous donations from the Mill Reef Fund, Robert Eremian, Horizons Ltd., Food Brokerage, Epicurean Fine Foods, Mitchell A. Michael, Inter-Island Sales and Supply, Cristo’s Supermarket, Island Provision Ltd., Anjo Wholesale, and Food Brokerage Services, is also supported by Clinic Nurses who help identify the recipients and accompany the IWC volunteers on their deliveries. IWC also donates food hampers to Hero House, the St. John’s Hospice, the Fiennes Institute and other organizations in need.
The charitable organization was founded in 1986 as the American Women’s Club, with the purpose of enabling American women and wives of Americans to become acquainted with each other, and to create a forum in which the membership could enjoy the history, culture and landscape of the island. The International Women’s Club (IWC), as it is now known, has approximately 75 dues-paying members, a President, a Board, a monthly newsletter, a book club, lunch bunch and a 2-volume cook book “From Market to Table.” Funds from its annual Golf Tournament supports a scholarship programme for women pursuing tertiary education.
