Qualifying auditions for the Antigua’s Got Rhythm - Junior Edition children’s talent show will be held on 20 and 28 March for the 41 children who have entered the contest. From these auditions, the top 15 acts will move on to the final event, to be held 17 April, 2010.
Entrants range in age from 4 to 15 and include singers, dancers, musicians and one junior comedian. The auditions will be held at the Lions’ Den in St. John’s from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day and are open to the public.
In the final event to be televised live on ABS-TV, children will be competing within age groups, including the Wee Ones (4-7), Middlings (8-11) and Tweens (12-15). The winner in each group will receive a cash prize of $500. Winners will be chosen by a combination of votes from celebrity judges, the audience, and LIME cell phone owners who participate via Text to Win.
Then from these three winners, judges will select an overall Grand Winner who will receive an additional $500 prize and a performance opportunity based on their talent.
Sponsors already signed up for the event include LIME, ABI Financial Group, Caribbean Union Bank, and Kenneth A. Gomez & Sons.
