The Perfect Caribbean Accommodation January 19, 2021.
"My fiance and I arrived at Buccaneer Beach Club on New Year's Eve and didn't have anything planned, fearing everything was booked up with only a few hours notice, the front desk went out of their way to find us a table at an exquisite local restaurant on the beach. This was our first taste of the extraordinary service that you receive at Buccaneer Beach Club.
Over the next eight days our holiday just got better and better and a lot of this was down to the part that the team at Buccaneer played. Every morning we would head out to the sunloungers that the charming Oscar had immaculately laid out. Being a resident of Buccaneer Beach Club helps as you have your own demarcated space on the beach that always ensures you have a comfortable sunlounger and umbrella to enjoy. Oscar runs a tight ship and makes sure that no one else from the surrounding hotels makes use of Buccaneer's sun-loungers. Additionally, he rakes the sand every few hours here to ensure that it is always well kept. Whilst this may seem unnecessary, it is an indication of the lengths that the staff at this hotel go to to ensure you are always looked after. They really are salt of the earth people who never fail to smile and greet you. It is wonderful to feel so welcome in a country that is not your own. Thank you, Oscar!
Carrying on, it was one of the highlights of my life and not just the holiday to be able to walk no more than 50m from our room and enjoy the still turquoise waters of the Caribbean. The location just can't be beaten and once you've had enough of the quirks of Dickenson Bay and fancy a bit of downtime, you can head back to Buccaneer Beach Club which is behind a secure gate and hidden amongst the most breathtaking coastal foliage.
As for the rooms, they are spacious and are more of a unit than a hotel room. We had a main bedroom that was really big with a fan and air conditioner. A large open plan kitchen and lounge make the holiday that much more relaxing. Both rooms have TVs in with a huge selection of channels, although we didn't watch any it was perfect for a BBC news update in the morning over a coffee before heading out to find out what this paradisal island had in store for us.
Getting around the island is really easy if you haven't hired a car, the front desk will call their trusted man Edwards anytime you need a ride and he's always there within minutes. The roads aren't great and commuting does take time, but Edwards is the man to get you there in one piece.
Lastly, a big thanks to hotel manager Simonetta. My first encounter with Simonetta was on my way back from the beach after a few rum cocktails, Simonetta was warm and very engaging despite the fact that I tried my hand at speaking Italian to her! A few nights later I was at a local restaurant and heard my name called, to my surprise, Simonetta had remembered me and took the time to find out how my trip was going. You won't find a more professional or lovely hotel manager anywhere in the world. Thank you, Simonetta.
Needless to say, we'll certainly be back.
