FOUR FARMERS IN ST. CROIX FOR AGRO-FEST Saturday 16th February 2013
A team of four, comprising Sereno Benjamin, Ika Fergus, Anel Nicholas and Irose Henry, is representing Antigua and Barbuda at the 42nd Agro Fest slated for this weekend at the Ruth D. Lang Food Fair Grounds in St. Croix.
The team’s display will include vegetables and agro-produce, such as jams, jellies and hot sauce.
The local team is buoyed by Antigua and Barbuda’s track record at the event.
The country has racked up seven first-place finishes and two second-place titles since entering the arena in 2003.
Roughly 170 vendors from across the region will be at the fest this year, organizers say.
The fair, which draws up to 30,000 visitors annually, is hosted by University of the Virgin Island’s Cooperative Extension Service, along with the Virgin Islands Departments of Agriculture, Tourism and Health.
The theme for the fair is “AGRIFEST 2013 – Agriculture: Grow, Eat, Live.” Click here for all News and Specials for Agriculture, Lands, Fisheries & Barbuda Affairs
