PRE-EASTER TENNIS 10S TOURNAMENT COMPLETED Wednesday 7th March 2012
The ABTA is proud to announce the successful completion of another 10 & Under Junior Tournament.
New Champions have been named, as some of our past champions have move on to the next level of their game.
Some forty (40) Under 10 Juniors participated in this tournament which starts the 2012 tennis season.
The tournament opened with encouraging words from the Assistant director of Sports Mr. Evans'Jawaki' Jones and President of the Antigua & Barbuda Tennis Association Mr. Cordell Williams.
In the girls finals competition Ashley Bersma of the Halcyon Tennis Club & Student of St. Nicholas Primary defeated Kaila Ambrose also of Halcyon Tennis Club & Student of Foundation Mixed 10-4.
In the boys finals competition the Platts-Costello boys came up against each other. Liam Platts-Costello defeated his twin brother Fergus Platts -Costello 12-10; both boys train at Tennis with Samantha and are students of Island Academy.
In the consolation competition;
Boys consolation finals Ajante Josiah of the Jolly Harbour tennis club & student of Baptiste Academy defeated Jaydon Wuilliez of Tennis with Samantha and student of Island Academy 11-9.
Girls consolation finals Aayana Evanson of Tennis with Samanth & Student of Sunny Side school defeated Chernia Norris of Halcyon Tennis club & student of Minoah Magnet 10-6.
The ABTA and the tournament committee thanks Heritage Sports for assisting us with tournament prizes, ABS TV, Richard Elien for doing a great job as tournament director, Ivan Ambrose and all the on court officials, the parents for supporting your children and to all the players continue to develop as the aim at this stage is not only winning but development.
