FACILITATORS PREPARING FOR TASTER WORKSHOPS Tuesday 16th February 2010
The five facilitators that will be hosting Taster workshops at the first Kenny Benjamin Community Cricket Festival – a two day event slated for March 6 and March 7, 2010 at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium have been named as:
Kathy-Anne Baltimore, Scoring
Austin Christopher, Umpiring
Lucia Mings, Event Management
Hudson Knight, Match Refereeing
Kenny Benjamin, Coaching
“It’s not often that the public has a chance to learn about these areas. Normally, people are more concerned about the players on the field and pay little attention on the work that goes on behind the scenes - the preparing, managing and officiating. Each sector plays a significant role in the successful hosting of a match whether it is an inter school match or an U13’s tournament or an International match," states Kenny Benjamin.
He adds that the workshops are open to all - not just ex-cricket players or present administrators: "These taster work shops are open to anyone, interested persons with little or no experience to persons looking for new ideas to take back to their club, community or school. It is an opportunity to learn basic skills in these five key areas. The participants just need to bring with them a willingness to learn and a determination to take their newly learnt skills into their communities, schools and youth groups”, adds Benjamin.
Each session is free and will last 45 minutes, interested persons can register at 764 0304 – the sessions will be held from 11:00 am on both March 6 and March 7.
