TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT IN PLACE IN ENGLISH HARBOUR FOR ASW
Wednesday 20th April 2016

One of the biggest concerns for many residents, partygoers and business owners this week is the amount of traffic and availability of parking for the Antigua Sailing Week events being held in English Harbour.

To that end the Traffic Division of the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda has been involved in meetings with the event organisers of all of the pre-events such as the Glow Fete being organised by English Harbour Rum as well as all of the official parties throughout the week.

On all of the big party days there will be restricted parking and on some days Park and Ride in place. The general public are asked to comply with all directions given to the police when arriving into the area to ensure a smooth flow of traffic.

Of particular concern are the biggest nights, Friday 22nd April Glow Fete and Tuesday 26th April Johnnie Walker Luciano Concert both taking place in Nelson’s Dockyard when Park and Ride operations will be in place at the Falmouth Rectory Grounds and the Falmouth Football Field in Marsh Village. Cars will be directed automatically into the car parks.

The one way system will be in place for the majority of days through the week including Lay Day where the event the Presidente Lay Day and Nonsuch Bay RS Elite Challenge will be taking place at Pigeon Point from 12 pm, and later, at 7pm the Official Launch of Antigua Carnival in English Harbour being organised by the Festivals Commission.

The schematic provided by the Royal Police Force clearly shows the restricted parking and the one way system. The police Force will be ensuring that these areas are adhered to so patrons are kindly asked to do as requested. The police will deal with exceptions as they occur with regard to businesses and residents in the area being given access.
