The annual Summer Sailing Program at Antigua Yacht Club is in full swing and Karl, Jarrise and Kelvin are working tirelessly to keep up with the crowd of youngsters enjoying the Program. The first session was a Fun Camp and was held from July 5th to 8th. In addition to the usual sailing instruction, the Fun Camp includes snorkeling, fishing, beach games, kayaking and hiking. It was very popular with 17 youth in attendance from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm each day. The second session was a two-week half-day Certificate program that saw 17 youngsters receive their mate and helmsman certificates, while the most recent session finished on July 29th and was again a Fun Camp with 12 kids participating. A great time has been had by all so far and congratulations to all those who received their certificates in July!
The next session will again be the two-week half-day Certificate program and will run from August 9th to 13th and August 16th to 20th. Currently there are 26 youngsters signed up for this program but limited space is still available for the afternoon session running from 2 to 5 pm each day. The final summer session will run from August 23rd to 26th and will be the last Fun Camp of the summer. There is currently plenty of space available for this session so why not sign your kids up to ensure that they have a great finale to their summer!
Karl James, Head Instructor, is a former Antiguan Olympian and has many years of experience training Antigua’s youth to sail.
