ANTIGUAN WINS US PLUS-SIZE COMPETITION Monday 23rd February 2015
Renée Edwards-Ambrose has won the inaugural Curvy Idol Competition held in Atlanta Georgia over the weekend. The 28 year-old mechanic, drag racer and plus-size model emerged as the winner of the Project Curve Appeal produced event after two days of competition.
Edwards-Ambrose was consistent in all rounds and will serve as the face of the Project Curve Appeal brand for the next few months. Finalists were judged on their walk, style, modeling portfolio and public speaking. The main mission of Project Curve Appeal is to correct the distorted perception of curvy females around the world while uniting, empowering and educating them to celebrate, embrace and enhance their personal image, fashion and inner beauty.
The Curvy Idol winner was voted in to the top ten from a field of 94 women from around the world during the online voting round back in November. She was the only one of the ten finalists that hailed from the Caribbean. Renée will receive international online exposure to over 209,000 Curve Appeal followers, a wardrobe makeover valued at USD$1,000, a five page professionally designed portfolio website, a feature in the Curve Appeal documentary, a 5-night cruise, Curve Appeal national membership and the permanent tittle as the 1st Ever Curvy Idol, and will be the featured cover model on the Spring issue of Curve Appeal Culture digital magazine.
Renée’s participation in the competition was sponsored by Sa’ila Designs from out of Canada, Kai-D Jewels from New York, and local boutique The District. The Project Curve Appeal ambassador returns to Antigua this week, and will begin preparing for regional drag racing events and her role as one of the Women of Esteem Foundation 2015 Go Girl Ambassadors.
