MELLOW OUT WITH JAZZ AND OTHER MOOD SETTING MUSIC Thursday 8th January 2015
While steel pan, soca, reggae and other Caribbean music can be energizing and delightful, sometimes you need to just chill out with some cool jazz riffs. Antigua now has several restaurants and clubs offering special nights of laid-back live music for you to enjoy—and almost every night of the week there is something going on.
On Tuesday, The Crow’s Nest in Jolly Harbour hosts Steel Jazz Night, with the popular Cutting Edge band and Lacu Samuel doing jazz steel pan (you have to hear it to believe it).
Wednesday brings two options. In the English Harbour area, Catherine’s Café Plage on Pigeon Beach brings in the Roland Prince Quartet for jazz sets. In the Jolly Harbour area, Rawden Edwards entertains in his unique style after the 2-for-1 Steak Night at The Sugar Club in the Sugar Ridge Hotel.
Thursday is Jazz Night at Club Sushi in English Harbour, with Rico and the 4 Play Band providing an evening of cool rhythms.
Every Saturday, the Pillars Restaurant in the picturesque waterside setting of Admiral’s Inn, Nelson’s Dockyard, hosts a themed dinner and entertainment afterward by the Harbour Trio. Check the What's On listing for the theme.
Saturday is M&M Jazz Night at Ana's, where you can listen to some great music while enjoying the luxurious double lounge beds and fantastic Dickenson Bay beach.
For another change of musical pace, Sunday wraps up the week with the Sunday Chill at Carmichael’s in Sugar Ridge, where the chill lounge music can be enjoyed from the restaurant’s own plunge pool.
So if your musical tastes are running mellow these days, head to one of these special venues for an evening of relaxation and good times.
