SEASON RESTARTING, BREAST CANCER AWARENESS AND RED CROSS ANNIVERSARY ACTIVITIES AND MORE ON THIS WEEK Wednesday 16th October 2013
DINING & NIGHTLIFE
You know the season is starting up when Mad Mongoose gets into the swing of things, with live music on several nights out of the week. On Friday they welcome you back to the harbour with live music by the 17 61° Band with an EC$5 Rum Punch Special on all night. During the week the 3 Cylinder Band is in on Tuesday and the Spirited Band hits the stage next Friday.
Sunday is set for Crime Stoppers’ Bar-B-Que & Family Fun Day at Ffryes Beach, providing a great event for the whole family to enjoy. Tickets are EC$20 each and are in aid of victims and families of road accidents.
Stop by Burger King during October and take advantage of their specials on Crispy Chicken Sandwiches at EC$9 or EC$10, or their new Home-style Chicken Sandwich for EC$15 or EC$24 for a combo meal. Grab a Burger King Gift Card and treat a loved one to a Whopper and Fries or a BK Storm. Fans of old menu items like Popcorn Chicken, Fish Bites and more will be pleased to know they have re-added old items plus new ones to the menu. Look out for these cool Jungle Book Kids Meals toys as well and collect them all!
Cecilia’s introduces their new menu currently available, with succulent starters like fresh, local Clam Chowder, Wahoo Carpaccio and more, followed by mouthwatering mains of fish, meat, or pasta varieties and lovely desserts and coffees to finish. They open for lunch Thursday through Monday and dinner on Mondays and Thursdays only.
Admiral’s Inn has restarted their daily lunch service and invites guests out for a tasty meal in a historical and stunning setting. They also offer dinner by reservation only so contact them soon to book a table.
Dennis Cocktail Bar & Restaurant has reopened and serves meals from Tuesday through Sunday from noon, including their Friday Night BBQ Special with DJ Music, and the Sunday Suckling Pig Special from noon to 3:00 pm, followed at 4:00 pm by BBQ with Chickie Hi-Fi as entertainment.
Mark your calendars for the reopening of Cambusa Italian Restaurant, returning with a new menu and upgraded wine cellar on November 3rd.
Grab tickets early for The Wadadli Experience 2013 hosted by ABHTI on October 31st, giving guests a gourmet take on local traditional dishes, just in time for Independence Day.
BREAST CANCER AWARENESS CONTINUES
Activities to promote awareness of Breast Cancer continue with the Relay for Hope at YASCO Grounds this Saturday, followed by the Party In Pink Zumbathon next Thursday. Grab tickets early for the highlight event, the Gala Dinner and Charity Fashion Show set for next Friday at Sugar Ridge, and you can save the date and sign up early for the 5K Run/Walk next Sunday 27th.
SPORT SHORTS
Young tennis players can sign up early to play the next upcoming tournament, the Pre-Independence “Green Dot” Tournament, taking place on October 26th.
COMMUNITY
ABHTI hosts their Career Showcase on Thursday from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm, designed to help companies tap into ABHTI’s talented candidate pool of students and alumni trained in a wide array of hospitality areas.
The Antigua & Barbuda Red Cross celebrates 72 years on October 20th and has organized a week of activities, including church services, media, community and fair days, a red cross march and more. They host a Coal Pot Cookout Competition on Friday October 25th and have a Volunteers Beach Bash on Saturday 26th.
The Environmental Awareness Group has organized their October Field Trip for this Saturday, taking hikers who join to the Body Ponds Watershed, meeting at 6:15 am. Their monthly meeting and special general meeting will be held on Tuesday 22nd October discussing the Lionfish problem in local waters.
