JOANNE THANKS JHOHADLI SPONSORS Monday 19th August 2013
Joanne C. Hillhouse wishes to extend thanks to all the sponsors of the Jhohadli Summer Youth Writing Project:
“I wanted to take a minute to thank those who supported the first ever Jhohadli Summer Youth Writing Project; thanks to them and the hard work, good attitude and creative spirit of the 14 young people between the ages of 9 and 19 who participated, it was a success. In particular, I’d like to thank tuition sponsors Brenda Lee Browne, Caribbean Water Treatment, Dr. Jillia Bird, Paperclips, Sanhall Trademarks Ltd., Shirley Heights Lookout, Townhouse Mega Store, and an anonymous donor who was the very definition of gracious. As well, I’d like to recognize those whose assistance, with snacks, writing material, printing, discounts, book contributions, venue space, and more made it all come together namely Silston Library, The Best of Books, Koren Norton, St. John’s Cooperative Credit Union, guest author Carol Mitchell, Marie Elena John, and friends and family. The JSYWP gave interested young writers the opportunity to come together to learn and grow in the literary arts; and based on their blind evaluations I can also express gratitude and relief that those who participated found the experience both beneficial and fun.
One wrote in her evaluation: "It was truly a help to me and this experience inspired / encouraged me to continue writing as well as share my writing with others. I acknowledge that this experience could not have been possible without them (the sponsors) and I would like to thank them very much. I do hope that if possible, they could continue to make projects like this a success." I hope so too. For more on the project and more visit http://jhohadli.wordpress.com. ”
