SEAFOOD FIESTA
This Sunday is set for the Urlings Seafood Fiesta, happening at the Urlings Fisheries Complex from midday onward. Fans of seafood delicacies are in for a treat with an array of seafood that will satisfy even the pickiest palate. The fiesta will feature culinary delights like Grilled Lobster, Seafood Pasta, Conch Fritters and local dishes like Pepperpot and more. Along with numerous food stands, there will also be entertainment at the fiesta, with live music by the High Tempa Band making the event a family affair for all to enjoy.
DINING & NIGHTLIFE
Every Thursday night is Jazz on the Quay at Heavenly Java 2 Go, featuring live music by the Kuttin Eddge Band, featuring award winning pan player Lacu Samuel to bring a Caribbean flavour. Come out from 8:30 pm and relax under the stars to beautiful jazz and pan music.
Each Friday at Café Bambula is Paella & Sangria Night, where you can enjoy the Valencian dish in its entire splendor, with Sangria on the side to give the full Spanish feel.
Continuing throughout summer is Friday Kids Night at Trappas Bar & Restaurant, offering the kids menu at half price from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm.
Ristorante Paparazzi is open during summer from Thursdays through Sundays serving dinner from 6:00 pm to 10:30 pm. For the month of August, they will open on Sundays for lunch as well as dinner, opening from 11:00 am and offering perfectly prepared pizzas and pastas, along with fresh catches and more with seating right on the water’s edge.
Mark the calendar for a special evening at Al Porto on Saturday August 17th, featuring a Beautiful People Fashion Show and four course dinner specially put together for the evening. For EC$120, guests will be treated to a welcome glass of wine, a mouthwatering traditional Italian dinner and a show by Calvin Southwell and his models in this year’s vibrant butterfly Carnival costumes.
SPORT SHORTS
Hike with a group and a guide from Sugar Club this Saturday as they organize a trek to Boggy Peak, starting off at 6:30 am from the hotel. The hike costs EC$20 and includes transportation back to Sugar Club from Christian Valley, where hikers are invited to stay on for breakfast or to chill by the pool.
COMMUNITY
Turtle Watching Trips are still ongoing with the Environmental Awareness Group, where they visit an offshore island each Friday evening to observe the nesting of the endangered Hawksbill Turtles. Contact them to book well in advance as spots fill quickly. The trips run until October 4th.
On Saturday, bring the family out to the Green Bay Moravian Church for their End of Summer Fun Fair and Movie Night from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm, where you can enjoy music, hula-hoops and a fashion show. There will also be a wide variety of tasty food available for sale, including Goat Water, souse, fungi, lingfish and more. Ticket price is EC$15 and goes toward Church restoration, and can be bought at Joe Mikes, AMW and the church office.
The Medical Benefits Scheme Social Club hosts an after Carnival Coral Ark Cruise this Saturday to help raise funds to aid charity development. The cruise sets sail at 8:00 pm and admission is EC$30.
