MBS ROAD SHOW STARTS NEXT MONTH Monday 21st May 2012
Another episode of The Medical Benefits Scheme’s Road Show will be held June 7 to 27 and an added feature in the five – year event will be de- centralization of the event.
A release from MBS indicated that the first event will be held at the Potters Primary School with the staging of the first of four health fairs.
On Tuesday, June 12, the second health fair will be at the John Hughes Primary School. The prize-giving ceremony for the annual MBS Healthy Recipe Competition will also be held at the John Hughes Primary School. The third and final Road Show health fair will be held in the west; at the Five Islands Primary School on Thursday June 21. The MBS Road Show travels to Barbuda on Wednesday June 27 and will run from 10 am to 3pm.
The event, as in previous years, will focus on wellness. Screenings for chronic non-communicable diseases, cholesterol, blood sugar, and blood pressure tests, as well as breasts and prostate examinations, among others, will be done. A number of prizes will be awarded in varying categories. Among them the first person to cross the finish line in various age categories and the dad with the most participating children.
People desirous of participating in the Father’s Day Run Walk can pick up their registration form at the MBS’ headquarters on Nevis Street or on the MBS website www.mbs.gov.ag. An entry fee of $15 will be charged per person and half price for persons under 12 years old. The theme for this year’s Road Show is “Let’s help ourselves in twenty twelve.”
