ANTIGUA BARRACUDA FC READY FOR GAME OPENER
Friday 15th April 2011

The Antigua Barracuda FC will take its first bold step into professional ranks when they engage the LA Blues in Antigua on Sunday 17th April 2011 at 7.00pm, at the Sticky Wicket Stadium.

Extensive repairs have been done to the playing field and it presents a picture perfect surface that will suit the style and play of the home team. The roster now boasts seventeen (17) players with professional terms and seven (7) reserves.
Head Coach of the Antigua Barracuda FC, Tom Curtis stated, “We have some final touches to do but the boys have worked very hard and although they are new comers to this experience I am convinced they will give of their best.”

Chairman Gordon ‘Banks’ Derrick, reflecting on the journey from conception to reality said, “We are days away from an historic moment in the life of football in Antigua and Barbuda.  We have worked hard over the last three years with the League to put all in place and now, its deliverance time.  We expect tremendous support from the home crowd, we know they love their football and we will mix the perfect blend of entertainment of good football for our loyal supporters”.

A number of dignitaries from Caribbean Football Union member countries, as well as President of the USL Tim Holt, will be attending Sunday’s inaugural match and with the island buzzing in anticipation, it’s all to play for come game time.

Antigua Barracuda FC is the only USL PRO team based outside the United States and its territories.
