NOTES FROM THE CABINET ON COVID-19 Thursday 12th March 2020
Notes from the Cabinet on COVID-19:
While Antigua has not yet had its first confirmed case of Novel Coronavirus, COVID-19, preparations have been ongoing in line with the guidelines issued by WHO and PAHO on this pandemic.
The isolation and quarantine units at the Margetson Ward are nearing completion; and testing locally will soon be available, as opposed to sending samples away for testing.
Steps are being made to ensure food security, in the event that trade is disrupted, and several measures have been put into place to secure boarders both at the airport and ports.
The cabinet has approved the purchase of additional ventilators for the hospital, and will provide supplements to schools, and is encouraging everyone who exhibits flu-like symptoms to remain at home until cleared by medical professionals to return to work or school.
