SAILING RALLIES LAUNCH TWO NEW EVENTS Friday 19th September 2014
Following on from the success of their Christmas Caribbean Rally (CCR) and Baltic 4 Nations Rally (B4N), Sailing Rallies announce the addition of two new events to their 2015/2016 events schedule: Antigua 2 Falmouth 2015 and the Spanish Rias Rally 2016.
Antigua 2 Falmouth is primarily for yachts sailing to Europe after the Caribbean season. Starting on the 8th May there is enough time for preparation and crew changes after Antigua Sailing Week. Antigua 2 Falmouth will complement the CCR (Lanzarote – Antigua), which finishes in Nelson’s Dockyard in late December. Starting on 8th May, Antigua 2 Falmouth yachts leave from Nelson’s Dockyard and sail approx. 2300nm to Horta, Faial in the Azores enjoying a short layover before continuing on to Falmouth. Yachts can choose to take part in both legs, or finish in Horta should they wish to sail on to the Med. The prize giving will be held on 10th June (weather dependent) giving crews enough time to reach the Solent for Round the Island Race, 27th June 2015. Initial response at the PSP Southampton Boat show has been good with Palpatine, a Stimson 42 signing up for the event and 5 further expressions of interest.
Following in the footsteps of the Baltic 4 Nations rally, the Spanish Rias Rally (23rd July – 6th August 2016) is a gentle step to more adventurous cruising. Covering approximately 150 miles in two weeks the rally starts and finishes in Baiona near Vigo and will visit some of the most beautiful rias in Spain; the Ria Pontevedra, Ria de Arousa and, Ria de Muros before returning to Ria de Vigo. Participants have free sail days, with plenty of opportunity to catch one of the many local festivals in Galicia, as well as the chance to visit the world heritage site of Santiago de Compostela.
Sailing Rallies’ MD, John Simpson commented “We listened closely to feedback from the 2013/14 participants on all our rallies and found there is customer demand for a return transat event starting from Antigua after Sailing Week and also a demand for shorter more convenient rallies like the Spanish Rias Rally, a little closer to home. The feedback about the new events at the Boat show has been excellent. We are very excited about these additions to our repertoire, bringing some more of our personality into this growing sector.”
The new events will be run with the usual Sailing Rallies professionalism; focusing on safety, high-quality service and varied social events, with an emphasis on bringing crews together in their own inimitable style. Expressions of interest and entries are being taken for both events. For further information, please contact info@sailingrallies.com, +44(0)845 257 5004 or Skype: Sailing.rallies
