TROPIC 4 CANCER ATLANTIC CROSSING
Saturday 30th November 2013

STOP PRESS:  Richard Mayon-White and his 21 ft (6.5m) yacht Haskapa  entered Falmouth Harbour Antigua today at 0745 local time, 1145 GMT after nearly 30 days at sea alone since setting off from Gibraltar.

Richard has traced the meridian of the Tropic of Cancer in his bid to raise £40,000 to be split equally between two great causes, the Sobell House Hospice in Oxford and the national charity Sail 4 Cancer.  A donation from the eventual sale of his yacht will also be made to a local Antigua charity.

In his final blog at sea Richard said:  “Soon this little Haskapa shaped bubble that I've been living in pretty much since leaving the UK nearly two months ago will nudge up against normal, everyday reality. This project, driven by the desire to do something positive, has been a year in the planning, and encompasses a concept dreamt up mid ocean eight years ago, and a lifelong ambition. Those are big rocks to carry, and it will be with some relief that I'm able to put that burden aside.”

He was able to let the burden lift as he was greeted by his wife Liz and his children on the dockside at the Catamaran Club in Falmouth Harbour.

Richard, an experienced ocean sailor and rower, is aiming to raise £40,000 to be split equally between two great causes, the Sobell House Hospice in Oxford and the national charity Sail 4 Cancer, which gives respite to cancer sufferers and their families through days out on the water and sailing holidays. He is already more than half way to achieving that sum.
