EXPERIENCE ANTIGUA
Monday 12th December 2011

At 5.30 pm on Friday following the Beating of the Retreat in Nelson’s Dockyard, the sound of the horns blowing from the yachts participating in the Antigua Charter Yacht Show also heralded the start of ‘Experience Antigua’.  In a week where the private Show specifically allowed yacht owners, skippers and crews to network with charter brokers, the organisers of the Show invited more than 20 businesses to participate in an expo specifically designed to bring Antigua to the Show’s participants.

With itineraries set and the charter boats now preparing for or waiting on their first charter of the season, there are plenty of opportunities for the yachties to get off the boat, out of the harbour and over Horsford Hill, to discover the rest of Antigua.

Businesses from around the island gathered in the Copper and Lumber Store Hotel in historic Nelson’s Dockyard to display their wares and meet many of the Charter Yacht Show attendees with the simple aim of telling them all about their businesses and inviting them to come and experience it for themselves.

The night was a great success with a constant flow of attendees walking the room and sampling food from Nonsuch Bay, the Copper and Lumber Hotel and Harmony Hall, and enjoy beer, wine and rum from Quin Farara. Antiguan businesses such as Footsteps Rainforest Hiking Company run by Dassa Spencer, Joy James's Art at the Ridge and Mindful Movement by Sumita Balooja were able to showcase what their businesses offer throughout the evening.

The addition of Seafood Friday on the lawn of the Copper and Lumber Hotel bought to end a wonderful evening and organisers look forward to a repeat show in 2012. Check out the photographs here.

Organisers of the event were Tracy Guerrero of Indigo Event Services and Alison Sly–Adams of Antiguanice.com.
