LET'S RIDE WINS THE CASA DE CAMPO REGATTA 2011

The Crew of Let's Ride accepting their prize.

The Overall Casa de Campo Regatta Award was won by the team “Let's Ride” led by Joan Rodriguez after 3 days of competition in the waters of the east coast of Puerto Rico. They also achieved first place in the category A.

The competition, with the participation of 22 boats, sailed with very changeable winds ranging from one day 25-8 knots.

In Category A, the second place was won by “Celtic X” and the sailboat Black Sheep reached the third place.  In Category B the first place was obtained by the boat “Bellissima” led by Gianfranco Fini, second place belonged to Josue Marti’s “Plotter One” and third “Focus II” by Tony Torres.  In the category C the main prize goes to the boat Hector Duval’s “Shiraz”, in second “Free Wind” of Antonio Fernandez and Santa Ines in third place of Captain Jose Horacio Vicioso.  In the catamarans’ category D the victory was obtained by the Russian Catamaran “Alisha”, the second place belonged to the French team of “Bohemia” and third by Dominican team “Cuco” led by Ernesto Armenteros.

The fifth Casa de Campo Regatta 2011 is the first run of the third “Catalina-Santo Domingo Circuit”, organized by ADVELCO (Dominican Oceanic Sailboats Association), which has its second Cup on March 20th. Abordo Magazine will be in charge of organizing the third course on March 27th, departing from Casa de Campo Marina to Boca Chica, concluding with the regatta organized by the Dominican Navy.

The organizers, Casa de Campo Marina, Casa de Campo Yacht Club and WT Events, on behalf of their directors: Commodore Gianfranco Fini. Marina Director Jose A. Gonzalvo and Alma Taveras by WT Events thanked the Dominican and foreign participants for their excellent participation and encouraging their presence in the up-coming “Casa de Campo Sailing Week in 2012.

The event was full of social activities: the White Party by Grey Goose, the presentation of La Romana Carnival, courtesy of “El Artistico”, music, gifts and a final raffle prize, an iPad, won by Ernesto Armenteros. The event had the support of the Dominican Sailing Federation (FDV by its Spanish acronym) and the massive support of sponsors: Central Romana Corporation, LTD; Casa de Campo Hotel,Color Vision, Pinturas Tropical, Listin Diario, Ritmo Social, CasaLife Magazine, CasadeCampoLiving, Banreservas ,EE Enterprises, Coca Cola, Brugal, Mejia Arcala Group, Alvarez and Sanchez, Nespresso, Grupo Intermedia, Marine Trader Services, Abordo Magazine, Brahma beer, Gatorade, Christoph Ristaurant, Banco Popular and others.

This event will donate funds for the Orfanato de Niños y Niñas de Cristo in La Romana.
