Christal Clashing Sets National Freediving Record for Antigua and Barbuda at Deep Dominica Competition
Christal Clashing has made history as the first female freediver from Antigua and Barbuda to set a national record. Competing at the Deep Dominica Freediving Competition, Clashing achieved a remarkable depth of 28 meters in the Constant Weight No Fins (CNF) category. This event, held from July 28 to August 4, 2024, showcased the prowess of freedivers from across the region.
Clashing, known for her previous achievements as a member of the historic Team Antigua Island Girls, has once again demonstrated her exceptional aquatic skills. Her participation in the Deep Dominica competition was made possible through public support and sponsorship, including from Budget Marine, the largest chandlery in the Caribbean, which previously backed her during the Pacific row.
Her journey to the record involved rigorous training and significant dedication, emphasizing the potential and determination of Caribbean athletes. The competition saw her excel on the first day, successfully reaching the 28-meter mark, which stands as a national record for Antigua and Barbuda.
