DEEP DOMINICA FREEDIVING COMPETITION Wednesday 24th July 2024
The Deep Dominica Freediving Competition is set to take place from July 28th to August 4th, 2024, in Soufriere, Dominica. This event spans six days of competition with all disciplines included and is sanctioned by CMAS, allowing for world record status attempts.
Among the notable competitors is Cristal Clashing, representing Antigua and Barbuda. Clashing, known for her pioneering spirit, aims to set a national record for Antigua and Barbuda in freediving. With a background as her country's first female Olympic swimmer and as part of the first all-Black team to row across the Atlantic Ocean, Clashing brings a wealth of experience and determination to the competition. She trains diligently in Antigua but recognizes the superior training conditions offered by Dominica.
The competition will be held in the ideal diving conditions of Soufriere Bay, known for its warm water, lack of currents, and unlimited depth close to shore, making it perfect for freediving training and competition.
