Only a few days ago The Maiden with Antigua’s Junella King broke records as she rounded the infamous Cape Horn.  Today, they beat Spirit of Helsinki to arrive second into Punta del Este in Uruguay. It was a hard race to finish leg 3 of the Ocean Globe Race from Auckland to Punta del Este, with Helsinki close behind. 

After 33 days of leg 3  the two boats were within 2 NM of each other with 40 NM to go.  The ladies prevailed and the all-female crew pulled into punta Del Este at 12.01 local time, coming 2nd in line honours, making them 1st in flyer class, 3rd in IRC Class. 

Maiden is an all female crew replicating Tracy Edwards famous round the world achievement thirty years ago in the same boat.
