THE MAIDEN FACTOR HEADS TO CAPE HORN Tuesday 23rd January 2024
The Maiden Factor and the rest of the fleet left Auckland on Leg 3 of the Ocean Globe race and are now in the roaring forties, heading for the notorious Cape Horn. The Maiden started gently but soon moved into the leading pack. Refreshed after a month long stopover the boats now tackle a 6000 mile leg down into the Southern Ocean and round Cape Horn then back up the Atlantic to Punta Del Este.
Maiden and her all female crew are on a remarkable journey, not just racing in the Ocean Globe Race showing what a girl can achieve, but also sailing with the mission of supporting girls’ education around the world, so they too can follow their dreams. In Leg Three, the ladies are fundraising for a simple solution to get more girls into schools to complete their education - single-sex toilets for girls!
