DONATION OF BOOKS TO THE LIBRARY Wednesday 24th August 2011
The Public Library now has a larger collection of Caribbean African and African-American authors due to the generosity of four members and friends of the Blaize/Liverpool families. The presentation of the 50 volumes was made during the family’s reunion which took place earlier this month.
A prominent feature in the planning of this family reunion, a release said, was requesting each family member to make a contribution of a Black-authored book to be donated to the national library.
The communiqué also noted that members of both families possess “a strong sense of honour and respect for our ancestors, on whose shoulders we all stand.
“Among the many values instilled in us by our ancestors are those of “helping others” and “giving back” to society. This donation exercise served to have the youth of both families experience and hone these values so as to be able to pass them on to their progeny.”
