BARBUDA KIDS SAILING CAMP REPORT Thursday 30th January 2020
No Gender Equality in Barbuda!
The final day Regatta was sailed in pairs with the first 3 places all taken by girl sailors – the boys couldn’t catch them.
Earlier in January the NSA completed a 3 week sailing camp over the holidays for the youth in Barbuda.
We thank our sponsor the Barbuda Ocean Club for their support and also the Barbuda Express for ferrying 2 instructors daily to/from Barbuda.
The camp, which was a pilot programme, was a roaring success with over 40 young people attending. All of the students involved were competent swimmers, and are, therefore, super confident on the water and quick to learn sailing skills.
The Regatta on the last day of the camp was sailed in challenging conditions but great fun was had by all. We would like to thank Mr Mark Kohler (General Manager, Barbuda Ocean Club) and his wife for presenting the prizes.
