Antigua and Barbuda National Sportswoman, Tamiko Butler celebrates great success at during her tryouts with England’s top national female cycling club, Wyndymilla. The UK Bike company team added Tamiko to their roster after spotting her talent in the Tobago Cycling Classic. She was invited to make her way to the UK where she would take up a 6 month residency to race in a semiprofessional league.

The National Time Trial Champion got her feet wet by placing in the top 20 of a constant 60 rider field. Butler settled in and began placing an average of 13th place in her twice a week racing. But Tamiko Butler made an early statement that earned her spot on the team by doing the best of her team and 4th overall in the Individual Time Trial prologue at the start of a 3 stage race. Tamiko emerge as one of the best hill climber of her club when he led the field at the summit of the climb to be in contention for one of the sport’s most important jersey, the red and white dotted jersey, and known as the best hill climber jersey. Tamiko continued to progress and constantly placing between 8th and 4th for most of her weekly events. All this is done amongst some of the world’s best female riders; Dani King, Laura Trott, Olympic and World Pursuit Champion, UCI teams such as IZUMI Breast Cancer Care and Wriggle Honda cycling club. In June the 23 year won her first International race and leading up to this she was recently awarded the title of most combative cyclist.

Wyndymilla/Reynolds Cycling Club outfitted Ms. Butler with her custom design bike and National champion jersey, all deck out with colors of the Antigua and Barbuda flag. Butler first race on her new bike brought her great luck by winning her first race on it.

If Tamiko Butler continues her winning ways, this can be a perfect opportunity for her as she set her mind on the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Butler has be selected to represent Antigua and Barbuda at her 2nd Games. Butler intentions will once again make history for Antigua and Barbuda of being the first female cyclist to represent Antigua and Barbuda at the Commonwealth Games. Not only for that but with her intentions of competing in both Road and Track racing, she will set a milestone in the OECS. Butler is set to race on the Track in the Women’s 3000m Individual Pursuit, Women’s Scratch Race and Women’s Points Race. She also will contest the road race in the women’s Individual Time Trial and Road Race.

Butler’s chances at the world’s 2nd highest Games are fair. She can be class among the island’s best games achievers for some of the best results of Antigua and Barbuda team for the 2014 Glasgow Games.
