MEET LOCAL CYCLISTS TO COMPETE IN CCC

The Antigua & Barbuda Cycling Association (ABCA) is all set to host the 2012 (INET) Caribbean Cycling Championships on October 20-21 here and the announcement of the twelve state riders ready to participate highlights this.

As the host country, Antigua and Barbuda is entitled to field two 5 men male teams and two 3 women female teams. However, with the talent we have in the male category on island we can meet the maximum spots but for the females we are only able to fill a single team consist of 2 riders. The team consists of a few new and future potential riders as well as some veteran who stayed on top of their game and made the qualification standard. But Antigua and Barbuda team still consist of several riders that can be on the podium as their riding ability is strong enough to be the top contenders in both the male and female races on both days.

The first male team consist of Captain, Jyme Bridges Omari King of Rattlers Club, Robert Marsh of ESR Club, Marvin Spencer and Andre Simon of Team Terminix. Antigua and Barbuda can look out of for any of these names in the lead group and possibly on the podium in the Individual Time Trial and Sunday’s Road Race.

The second team is consist of riders that are strong on aiding support the A-Team but can still be in contention on a given day. The second team consist of Veteran Brian Lyn of TWC, Clint Henry of Rattlers Club, Veteran Dale Richardson of Club Savoy, Ken Jackson and Ashley Rhodes of ESR Club.

The team will be manage by Mervin Gore and Wayne Henry assisted by Motor pace trainer, Ira Fabian and Ashfield Vigo. The National team uniform will be donated by the National Olympic Committee.

Come out and line the way to cheer and chant on our nation's riders as they race by; your support will boost their spirits and athletic performance to win!!

  20. French St. Martin,
  21. Santo Dominigo,
  22. Dutch St. Martin
  23. Puerto Rico,
  24. and Antigua/Barbuda.


The total number of cyclists confirmed for the event are eighty eight (88) males and fourteen (14) females.  Along with the cyclists there will be forty eight team officials and members of various Cycling Federations attending the event. This brings the total number of persons who will be coming to Antigua to one hundred and fifty (150).
