SCRUBBO PINEAPPLE INDIVIDUAL TIME TRIAL RESULTS

The Antigua and Barbuda Cycling Association completed its 16 roster calendar of domestic races on Sunday ahead of the mega event, Caribbean Cycling Championships.

The Scrubbo Pineapple Individual Time Trial was the final race for the season and the final event to select the National Time Trial Team to represent Antigua and Barbuda on October 20. The Annual Scrubbo Pineapple Time Trial event wasn't the usual route but ran on the exact route selected for the Time Trial leg of the Caribbean Cycling Championships.

The riders went for 2 laps of a 12 mile course but Robert Marsh sent a clear message that he is ready to represent his nation in the hosting of the biggest event of his sport. Robert Marsh of ESR Club completed the course in a time of 56:33 to win the Scrubbo Time Trial and meet the selection standard for the 2nd time of less than 1 hour. Marvin Spencer of Team Terminix improved on the time when he last qualified placing 2nd in a time of 57:58 ahead of Andre Simon who placed 3rd and qualifying for the final spot on the national time trial team in a time of 59:59. Ken Jackson and Dale Richardson were 4th and 5th respectively.


The Cycling Association is pleased to announce the 4 men and 2 female teams that will fly the nation’s flag in the October 20 INET Caribbean Cycling Championships Individual Time Trial. The Female team will be represented by the reigning Caribbean Time Trial Champion, Tamiko Butler of Team Terminix and Kevinia Francis of Road Runners Cycling Club. The male team will consisted of Robert Marsh of ESR Club who qualified in the best time of 56 minutes. Team Captain, Jyme Bridges of Rattlers Club is the 2nd best who qualified in a time of 57:12. Marvin Spencer of Team Terminix was the next qualifier who best time was 57:58 and Andre Simon of Team Terminix who just met the standard in a time of 59:59.

Other results from Sunday’s race, Ashley Rhodes of ESR Club rode to victory in his final B-Class competition. Ashley’s ability in his first year of race landed him as one of the top contender of the development class which gained him A-Class promotion for next season, Rhodes who also a CCC team selectee completed Sunday’s B-Class 12 mile course in a time of 31:31 ahead of an improving Conroy Thomas who places 2nd in a time of 33:20. Ashfield Vigo placed 3rd in a time of 34:08 ahead of NKosie Barnes who was 4th in a time 36:12. Kevinia Francis was the best in the Female Class; Francis won the race in a time of 37:34 ahead of Lindsay Duffy who was 2nd in a time of 39:20. Joel Phillip continues to be the most dominant Cadet of the two as he easily won the Cadet Class over Nigel Fabian. Joel compete the 12 mile course in a time of 35:15 and Nigel produced a time of 36:29.
