GET READY FOR ANTIGUA’S BIGGEST CYCLING EVENT Monday 10th September 2012

Plans are firmly on target for the hosting of the biggest cycling event in the history of Antigua and Barbuda.
Antigua will be the host of the 2012 INET Caribbean Cycling Championships to be held October 20 – 21st.
The Caribbean Cycling Championships have a history of attracting more than ninety riders from across 24 Caribbean nations.
The extremely highly competitive event normally attract the most of the region’s foreign based professional and semi-professionals to represent their nation at this level and confirmation revealed that the Antigua and Barbuda event is attracting a record number of the region’s best.
The local organizing committee is happy with the progress so far and is on target according to the plan and timelines.
The Association is pleased to announce INET as the title sponsor as well as other Gold, silver and bronze sponsors such as: The Observer Media Group, The National Olympic Committee, Lucozade, Sign Pro and Stonewall Reloaded. The Association is still seeking for additional sponsorship to make the event a success.
The organizing committee has so far received confirmation from 18 countries to 12th Caribbean Cycling Championships which includes:

- French Guyana
- Suriname
- St Lucia
- St. Kitts/Nevis
- St. Vincent and the Grenadines
- St. Croix
- Jamaica
- Curacao
- Guyana
- Anguilla

- Trinidad and Tobago
- Tortola BVI

- St. Martin
- Bonaire
The events will run over a 2 day period start at 9:30am each day on the road on the eastern side of the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium that is designated for the start/finish and the main entertainment venue.
On Saturday 20th October will be the Male (24 mile) and Female (12 mile) Individual Time Trial where 4 of our top male riders will contest for the top honours and our very own Tamiko Butler will defend her Caribbean title, Reigning 2011 Caribbean Female Time Trial Champion.
On Sunday 21st October will be the climax of the event, the male and female mass start Road Race. The Females will go for 42 miles whilst the Males will contest for the ultimate Caribbean title in the 84 mile Road Race.
