ROBERT MARSH WINS 11TH ANNUAL JASON BALLY MEMORIAL ROAD RACE Wednesday 5th October 2011
BVI -Tortola - The 11th Annual Jason Bally Memorial Road Race took place on Sunday October 11, 2011 and saw the Harney Motors sponsored, Robert Marsh winning the 62 mile race in a time of 2 hours, 58 minutes and 23 seconds to take the victory to Antigua.
Close behind him was the BVI’s Orano Andrews who held on to Marsh throughout the course but succumbed seconds before the finish line in a sprint finish.
However, Andrews, being the first BVI rider to finish, was crowned the BVI Cycling Federation National Road Race Champion for 2011. Andrews is now a double champion, having also secured the BVICF National Time Trial Championship.
Also for the BVI, Darel Christopher Jr. held on to the third podium spot with a time of 3 hours, 5 minutes and 8 seconds in another sprint finish ahead of Antigua’s F&G Trading, Neil Lloyd. Lloyd was also the first Masters to cross the finish line. St. Thomas’ Morgan Locke was fifth while Brian Lyn of Antigua was sixth.
