CSA QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER
Friday 19th February 2016

Dear Members and Friends:

I’d like to begin by saying how pleased we are with the membership growth we’ve seen the in the past several months.  We’ve been working to ensure that all sailing organisations in the region are aware of the benefits of being CSA members and have emphasized how by teaming up together, sailing in the Caribbean region continues to go from strength to strength.  Welcome to all new members as well as those who have renewed after a period of absence.

Many sailors across the region are currently focussing on qualifying for the upcoming summer Olympics in Rio and we wish them every success in achieving their goals.  With the regatta season upon us once again most of us are keeping very busy one way or another.  Aside from the bigger regattas, the number of smaller events and in particular youth events happening around the region continues to grow and we’re delighted to be able to help promote those events and encourage greater participation for the benefit of all.

Enjoy reading our latest news below.  Many exciting things are happening including a new sponsorship of the CSA by LIAT, The Caribbean Airline, and we’re already looking ahead to plans for the Caribbean Dinghy Championships and the CSA Annual Conference in October.

Happy sailing and fair winds!

Kathy Lammers, President

The CSA is pleased to announce that the 2016 Caribbean Dinghy Championships will be hosted by St. Maarten Yacht Club on October 8 and 9 and all member islands are invited to enter a team.  Details are being finalized and the Notice of Race will be available on the CSA website in the near future.  Limited assistance will be available to qualifying teams through a CSA sponsorship arrangement with Liat, The Caribbean Airline.  Criteria for qualifying are being finalized by the Sailing Development Committee but in the meantime, if your team would like to apply for assistance, please get in touch with secretariat@caribbean-sailing.com with details of your request.

Traditionally the most successful dates for the CDC have been in October and November and the Committee therefore recommends a date for the event during that time period. If your organisation has an interest in hosting a future CDC, please study the CDC Form Guide and submit bids accordingly to secretariat@caribbean-sailing.com at your earliest convenience but by no later than April 30 in any year.

The CSA thanks all interested member organisations for taking the time to consider both participating in and bidding to host the CDC and for their continued support of the Caribbean Sailing Association.
