Sint Maarten Laser Standard Notice of Race
This document contains the standard parts of a Notice of Race as required by Rule J1 of the Racing
Rules of Sailing.
The ‘Regatta Detail’ document referred to in this document is unique to each event and contains the details that you need to know about the specific event.
1. RULES
1.1. The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.
1.2. No national authority prescriptions will apply.
1.3. The ILCA Rules apply except that:
a) Boats in the Radial Class need not use classapproved sails
b) Replacement parts, fittings and lines that do not enhance performance are permitted.
1.4. If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence.
2. ADVERTISING
Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organising authority.
3. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
3.1. The regatta is open to all boats of the Laser, Laser Radial, and Laser 4.7 Classes.
3.2. Additional Entry Requirements are listed in Regatta Detail.
3.3. Classes may be created, combined, split, or removed at the sole discretion of the
Organising Authority.
3.4. Eligible boats may enter by completing the entry form online at the Regatta website.
4. FEES
Required fees for all classes are listed in Regatta Detail.
5. SCHEDULE
The schedule is listed in Regatta Detail.
6. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
The sailing instructions will be available at the Registration Desk at the opening of Registration.
7. VENUE AND COURSES
The racing area and courses to be sailed are described in Regatta Detail.
8. PENALTY SYSTEM
8.1. Rule 44.1 is changed so that the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by the One-Turn Penalty.
8.2. The Jury may, at its discretion, impose an alternative penalty in lieu of disqualification for any infringement, including safety requirements, with the exception of an infringement of the rules of Part 2 of the RRS.
9. SCORING
9.1. Three race is required to be completed to constitute a series.
9.2. When fewer than five (5) races are completed, a boat’s series score will be the
total of her race scores.
9.3. When five or more races have been completed, a boat’s series will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.
10. PRIZES
Prizes to be awarded are listed in Regatta Detail.
11. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organising authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
12. PHOTOGRAPHIC AND MEDIA RIGHTS
Competitors grant the Organising Authority the unrestricted right and permission to use the
name and the image for any text, photograph or video footage of either themselves or the yacht they are sailing during the event to be published or broadcast in any media whatsoever (including but not limited to Press and TV advertisements or Internet), for either editorial or advertising purposes or to be used in press information; in this respect, competitors' names and any biographical material of themselves may also be used or reproduced in any way known.
