PAN AMERICAN GAMES TRACK TEAM Wednesday 29th July 2015

The record-breaking Antigua & Barbuda men’s 4x100 metres relay team returned home on Tuesday from the Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada, The quartet of Daniel Bailey, (fourth right), Chavaughn Walsh (second left), Cejhae Greene (third left) and Miguel Francis (not pictured) set a new Games time of 38.14 in the semi-finals heat to beat the United States, Canada, Jamaica, St Kitts & Nevis and Chile.
However, bad luck struck in the final when the team was disqualified for an infringement on the first changeover. Accompanying the team home were Heather Samuel, left, a coach and also Director of Sports, Everton Cornelius, interim-president of the Antigua & Barbuda Athletics Association, Philip Isaacs, an official. Senator Colin James, right, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Sports, Culture & National Festivals, met and congratulated the runners, who included reserved member, Jared "Dario" Jarvis, fourth left, and officials.
Senator James and members of the athletics association recently met with a charitable foundation to make a plea for funding to replace the track at YASCO, the country's lone facility.
