MINISTRY OF SPORTS REPRESENTATIVE TO ATTEND THE 5TH WORLD CONFERENCE ON WOMEN AND SPORT Monday 20th February 2012
 The Antigua and Barbuda Olympic Association in collaboration with the International Olympic Committee, Olympic Solidarity is proud to nominate and provide financial support to Mrs. Anne Jonas from the Ministry of Sports to attend the 5 th World Conference on Women and Sport which will be held in Los Angeles from February 16 to 18 th, 2012.
The IOC’s World Conference on Women and Sport takes place every 4 years. This year’s event is being organized jointly by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) and the Southern California Committee for the Olympic Games.
Conference participants and high-level speakers will include representatives from the sports community, the United Nations system, specialized organizations, universities, governments, non-governmental organizations, the business world and the media
The theme for this year’s conference “Together Stronger: The Future of Sport” stands for the positive evolution in the promotion of girls and women in sport, especially during the last two decades
Discussion topics will cover a variety of subjects associated with the efforts to strengthen women’s representation in sport leadership positions such as;
- Leadership views on women in the world of sport
- Partnerships for progress
- Setting the pace for a sustainable responsibility
- Women. Sport and the media
- Government, legislature and attitudes
- Medical matters
- Empowering women and girls through education
- Role models and leadership
- Business of Sport
- Sport, Peace and Development
