SEAGLANS AND OVALS EXCITE IN 2-2 DRAW
Monday 15th August 2011

Two goals in the last four minutes had the spectators baying for more as home side Stingray City Seaglans and Ovals of All Saints played to an entertaining 2-2 draw in the lone match of the Under 15 Youth Cup of the Warriors Cup at Glanvilles on Thursday.

Striker Adisa Dorsett, who was a constant threat throughout the game, had put the Vernon Spencer-coached Seaglans on course for a seemingly come-from-behind win when he scored his second goal with four minutes remaining.

But Ovals, who had taken the lead and were trailing 2-1 at that stage, struck back in the last minute of the 50-minute affair, when Ajarni Thomas latched on to a pass to calmly slot the ball past the goalkeeper for the game-tying goal.

Diminutive midfielder Deshaun Joseph stunned the usually vocal home crowd as he hit a rising drive into the ‘V’ to give the visiting Ovals boys the advantage after just seven minutes.

It took Seaglans, who included a descendant of the Colonial Moody-Stuart family, Justin, two minutes after half-time to get back into match when Dorsett powered his way past the defence to beat the advancing goalkeeper.

And when Dorsett netted his second goal from another breakaway it appeared that Seaglans were on their way to their second win but John Roacher’s Ovals boys had other ideas.

The point carried Seaglans onto four and a share of the lead with host club Young Warriors while it was Ovals’ first from three matches.

The Warriors Cup 2011 Youth Cup competition – U13, U15, U17 – winds-up this weekend with all matches starting at 11 am on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the John Hughes Playing Field. The Youth Development Camp will run from Aug. 15-19 from 10am-3pm daily at John Hughes.

The Championship Cup will be staged from Aug. 20-26 at the English Harbour Playing Field and John Hughes.
